Say welcome back to a long lost friend, the 2013 Dodge SRT Viper sure has the industry excited.

On April 4th the automotive industry had its world shake: the all-new 2013 SRT Viper was unveiled at the New York International Auto Show. This fifth-generation iconic two-seat supercar steps into a new era of superior craftsmanship, new technologies and ergonomic improvements which are unmatched by any other super sports car.

The Chrysler Group wasn’t about to let its performance icon become dust on a shelf. A few improvements include chassis enhancements which bring 50 per cent improvement in torsional stiffness and a triple-digit weight reduction which offers best power-to-weight ratio for the 2013 Dodge Viper. You will also find a beautifully designed interior with luxurious touch points, an upgrade on all material appointments and technologies. Also new are standard safety features such as: electronic multistage stability control, traction control and new 4-channel anti-lock brake system (ABS). The two new models are the SRT Viper and SRT Viper GTS.

All-aluminum 8.4L V10 engine keeps true to the Viper’s reputation of having the most torque of an naturally aspirated sports car engine in the world with an estimated 640 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque. New to the performance segment of this vehicle is a ultra-high flow and lightweight composite intake manifold, high-strength forged pistons, sodium-filled exhaust valves, new catalysts to reduce back pressure and an aluminum flywheel that reduces reciprocating losses. Two-mode active suspension allows this world-class vehicle to break limits on the track while also opening up its envelope as a more premium and mature evolution of this classic. The 2013 SRT Viper models come standard with Pirelli P Zero, Z-rated tires with substantially improved overall performance, cold weather performance, enhanced overall grip and steering response on a variety of road surfaces while also broadening the performance spectrum.

The driver feels like they are a part of this high performance machine. The interior offers steering-wheel-mounted launch control switch which allow for optimal acceleration from standing starts. Other features include standard high-performance racing seats from Sabelt which feature lightweight Kevlar/fibreglass shell which offer mass reduction and long-term durability. There is also a new 7-inch, full colour, customizable instrument cluster display which uses a full-time analog tachometer readout in the centre to confirm the performance of your Viper. Uconnect Connectivity is available in all models and you can choose between Uconnect RA3 or Uconnect RA4. On the Viper GTS model, all surfaces are full leather and standard colours are applied to the seats, doors, centre console and stitching. There is no way you won’t be impressed, let alone have your socks blown off.

2013 Dodge Viper Exterior

The exterior of the 2013 Dodge Viper combines contemporary execution with evolutionary refinement. The same iconic high performance aggressive look you have seen on all models of the Viper has a dominating presence, as always. The classical low-stance and extreme cab rearward proportions and dramatic fender “gills” on the hood silhouette have not been lost, why fix it if it ain’t broke? The new lower-front grille is purposefully designed as an evolution of the traditional low-profile cooling opting configuration and discretely carries a refined V-shaped structure. Aerodynamically functional details are intelligently integrated into the high tech carbon fibre and aluminum skin. This is an impressive, artistic machine that will catch and hold your gaze every time it rolls up.

The 2013 Dodge Viper has not left people wanting more with its highly anticipated return to the high-performance sports car market. This is definitely a car you should be checking out. There are many new improvements and modern designs that will attract new owners and impress die-hard fans.
