Summer has officially arrived and with it comes the delightful season of road trips. Road trips are an excellent way for you to get out and see your landscape from the comfort and safety of your own vehicle. As you embark, it is important to ensure that you and your vehicle are prepared for the journey ahead. Following are 9 areas of vehicle maintenance that should be checked before the beginning of any long trips, ensuing peace-of-mind on the road.

  1. Check Your Fluids

Before any lengthy journey it is important to make sure you have checked your fluid levels, such as wiper fluid, coolant, brake fluid and oil. Open up the hood, examine your levels and top up any that are looking low.

As long trips can often increase the level of stress experienced by your motor, it is important to make sure that your oil is in good condition. If you are due for an oil change in the near future, you might want to consider getting your oil change done before your trip, to make the journey a little easier on your engine.
