by Admin on October 2, 2012

On August 27, 2012 a new Guinness World Record was set. Ram and Dodge pickups gathered in Dresden, Ontario to be a part of the attempt for the “Longest World Records” for the most pickups in a parade. It was a success. This Ram rodeo tour hosted the Longest Parade of Ram and Dodge Pickup Trucks.

Canada’s longest-lasting line of pickups was on full display Saturday as it set a new world record. Leading the pack was the new 2013 Ram 1500. Behind it was 272 other proud vehicle owners gathered at the Dresden raceway. It was here that they successfully broke the Guinness World Record for the “Longest Parade of Ram and Dodge Pickup Trucks” which included new and used models of all shapes and sizes.

Reid Bigland, President and CEO of Chrysler Canada expresses his excitement about this historic event. “Ram trucks are the second best-selling vehicles in the country and we are proud of our owners for trucking down to the Dresden Ram Rodeo… to make history as they set a new Guinness World Record of the longest parade of Ram and Dodge trucks ever.”

The engines and horns could be heard for miles around. The fair grounds were so packed it took some organizing to ensure all the trucks could take a victory lap. Talk about one exciting day in Ram and Canadian history.

The parade spanned more than two kilometres throughout the Dresden Raceway and surrounding streets. The event was part of the Ram Rodeo, an 11-stop tour that sprawls across southern Ontario, showcasing competitive rodeo skills performed by professional cowboys and cowgirls. Organized by the Dresden Agricultural Society, the parade’s proceeds go to benefit the Canadian Mental Health Association.

For Dresden, this World Record attempt is another trophy on the wall. In 2010, Dresden broke the record for the World’s Longest Tractor Parade. This is a town with a lot of heart and determination to bring people together to create something magical.

Chrysler Canada has been supporting grassroots rodeos throughout the country for more than 30 years which help give back to each community that they take place. The Ram Rodeo Program is involved with rodeo committees and Chrysler dealers in approximately 100 cities and towns.

The Ram Tour was created 15 years ago to showcase the Historical Sport of Rodeo while raising funds for community projects. This tour provides the fans with an experience second to none in the Ontario market. With more cowboys and cowgirls than ever before, the Ram Rodeo Tour provides a chance to compete within the Canadian Cowboy’s Association for championship buckles, prizes and cash. This tour is about building better communities.
